Eating Plant Based When With Omnivores

I went on vacation last week, to visit my dad and step mom. It was a long trip as I went by train and they live in Virginia, near North Carolina. Not only did I have to find ways to eat healthy, I also wanted to ensure I still got some exercise in.

I went by train as I thought it would be the easiest. I figured I could get up and move every hour. The only trouble is, the train was very late arriving in my destination. What could have been an 8 hour excursion turned into 9 hours.

Arby's Is Behind The Times

In what seems like a desperate attempt to boost sales in a climate that's switching to plant based, Arby's introduced the "Marrot", a meat based vegetable that looks like a carrot. Yeah, you heard that right, a meat based vegetable. What?

This defiant move shows that Arby's is feeling the heat from plant based alternatives at other restaurants. For example, Burger King will soon be offering the Impossible Whopper nationwide and Pizza Hut will offer a vegan pizza in August. Arby's wants to hold on to their backward thinking. As they said in a recent statement, they don't ever intend to work with Impossible Burger.

Preparing For the Half Marathon

My half marathon is coming up quick. It's just over three weeks away. I signed up for the Fairfield Half Marathon on June 2nd. It's been a lot of work doing the training, but I think I'm ready.

Before I started training, I said I'd love to complete the half in 1 hour 30 minutes. That was unrealistic. I'd be happy if I can come close to two hours. However, I'm not so focused on the time I finish. I really just want to complete it.

The NYC Eat Well Stay Well One Day Immersion

I first learned about Dr. Joel Fuhrman back in 2012, when I was first started my weight loss journey. He had an enormous impact on how I ate back then when I started and it continues to this day. Although I follow all the plant based doctors now, I credit Dr. Fuhrman for opening my eyes to healthy plant based foods.

I still eat his recommended GBOMBS foods (greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds) along with a variety of other plant based foods. The GBOMBS foods specifically provide all the essential micronutrients you need to live a healthy life.

How To Be A Healthy Vegan - An Interview With Dr. Fuhrman

This past Thursday, I had honor of interviewing Dr. Joel Fuhrman about how to be a healthy vegan. If you are unfamiliar with Dr. Fuhrman's work, he has transformed so many people's lives with his Nutritarian diet, including the "GBOMBS" foods that I eat each day (greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries and seeds). Although my diet includes other plant based foods, the GBOMBS are what I make sure I have daily. You can read about Dr. Fuhrman further on his website.

I wanted to interview Dr. Fuhrman as I knew he would have a lot of insight as to what's a healthy way to be vegan. As we all know, vegans can also be unhealthy, evidenced by the fact that many of the processed foods are vegan, like Oreos. As expected, Dr. Fuhrman confirmed that the GBOMBS foods are what vegans, and everybody should be focusing on. People need to eliminate as much processed food in their diet as possible, vegan or not!
