Eating Plant Based When With Omnivores

I went on vacation last week, to visit my dad and step mom. It was a long trip as I went by train and they live in Virginia, near North Carolina. Not only did I have to find ways to eat healthy, I also wanted to ensure I still got some exercise in.

I went by train as I thought it would be the easiest. I figured I could get up and move every hour. The only trouble is, the train was very late arriving in my destination. What could have been an 8 hour excursion turned into 9 hours.

Rich Is In The Muscle Building Phase Again

I love running and it was awesome to complete my first half marathon. I do plan on doing other races in the future and don't plan on stopping. That being said, I feel like I lost some muscle with all the training I did for the half marathon. I want to really focus on building muscle for a while.

All the doctors I consulted with when I did my abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) said that my arms and chest could tighten with more muscle. I'm lucky that my skin isn't as bad in those areas as my belly was the most problematic in terms of excess skin.

The NYC Eat Well Stay Well One Day Immersion

I first learned about Dr. Joel Fuhrman back in 2012, when I was first started my weight loss journey. He had an enormous impact on how I ate back then when I started and it continues to this day. We Are Not Wasting Away To Nothing!

Many of my former obese friends will be able to relate to this post. I know a lot of people have gone through this and it can get so frustrating. What I'm talking about here is when others make remarks about your weight, as if they are concerned you'll waste away to nothing.

I'm going to have to deal with this again, as my dad and step mom visit from another state next week. I haven't seen them in a while and it seems like every time I see them, my step mom will say in concern, "you lost A LOT of weight!" And yet it's been over 6 years since I lost the weight. I'm the same weight, around 205 pounds from the previous times they saw me. But I will most likely have to argue, stating how I haven't lost anything since they last saw me, despite her insistence.

Had My Physical Today

I never take my health for granted. Just seven short years ago I was morbidly obese, pre-hypertensive and most likely pre-diabetic.

So when I hear lines like this is the best cholesterol readings my doctor has seen or that I'll most likely never develop diabetes (unless I were to suddenly revert to my old habits), I feel so happy.
