Superfood Update

I know a lot of weight loss challenges are going on this fall and I thought this is a good time to remind people of the superfoods I eat. I did a post months ago where you can read my list of the favorite superfoods, click here for the link.

The list is pretty much the same, but I wanted to stress the importance of a few of the foods and a few more that I've tried since then.

Quinoa is my number one all time favorite superfood. I can't say enough about it. It's a plant based protein that contains all the necessary amino acids to be considered a complete protein. It goes with practically any food. It's light in calories and is an excellent food to eat after working out. It's easy to prepare, easy to digest (unlike some other proteins like whey protein) and is a good as a side dish or as part of your main dish.

I've been eating quinoa for months now, ever since I first learned about if from Dr. Oz and reading about it in health magazines. Quinoa is just awesome. Another food I have almost daily is pomegranates, a super fruit that helps lower blood pressure. Some other foods I've tried recently that could make the superfood list are goji berries and chia seeds.

Goji Berries are high in Vitamin C, Iron and Beta Carotine. These berries are great to snack on and convenient. One bag of the dried berries lasts me about one week.

Chia Seeds have a lot of healthy benefits. First of all, chia seeds are an excellent source of omega 3, which many Americans lack in their diet. They have age-defying antioxidants that keep your skin healthy. Like quinoa, chia seeds are an excellent source of protein. Chia seeds go great with yogurt, among many other foods.

If anyone has recipes they would like to share with any of the superfoods on the list, please list them in the Recipe section of the website and share with others.
