Lead by Example
Happy Monday, fitness friends! I just finished cleaning up from dinner & I was compelled to get on here & post. For the last two years, I have fallen into the trap of making more than one meal for me & my family. My youngest had mastered the crinkling of her nose at the sight of quinoa when I would offer it to her. WELL...tonight I made a healthy pasta primavera dish for my crew & it was a HUGE hit! I MADE ONE HEALTHY MEAL FOR DINNER TONIGHT! I am over-the-moon excited! I will try my best to keep this up! I am noticing that my youngest daughter is gravitating towards healthy options because it is now her only choice! I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment seeing her be lead by example. On days when I have felt like giving up, I remember who is watching.

Jackie, you are setting such a good example for your kids. I see too many parents bringing their kids to fast food places and neglecting the fruits and vegetables. I always had vegetables as a kid, but the focus was always on the meat. I certainly didn't know about things like quinoa as a kid. I think it's so great that you're exposing her to the healthy foods now! You're a great example for her to follow!
I completely understand that feeling! My kids are in college, but I've seen them finally start to embrace the example I've tried to set! They are conscious of their trips with their friends for slushies and gross takeout. They no longer eat candy like it's their job. They are finally used to the fact that there are no sodas or snack foods in the house, and my daughter actually makes her own healthy snacks and meals to take with her to work, instead of eating junk. She's even setting a good example for her friends and is proud of it. I never thought I'd see the day!
Our kids learn by our example! No matter how old they are! I've seen a change in my 14 year old, as well. She's been a little tougher to crack, though. LOL!
