I'm Doing A Vegan Challenge

I'm Doing A Vegan Challenge

I eat very clean now but when I read about a vegan challenge last month, I thought I should give it a try. I want to see how I feel without meat or dairy for a week. The challenge begins tomorrow and will last seven days.

I will still get all the protein requirements. As you may recall, my trainer wants me to have a lot of protein, especially when I''m training hard. This vegan challenge has gotten me to examine my diet and I think I came up with a good plan for the week. Basically, the big thing I'll be missing is turkey and Greek yogurt. All the other food is pretty much the same. The plan I came up with will have me consuming the pea protein powder, lots of quinoa, beans, spinach, etc.

I can't see myself totally giving up on yogurt completely, but we'll see what happens. I mean the yogurt I have gives me 20 grams of protein! I'll give it up for the week, but I do think it's an important part of my diet. Also, I do enjoy the turkey, but maybe I'll find that I don't need it everyday. Again, I don't know how much of the vegan diet I'll continue with after the challenge is over.

I like the idea of eating vegan as Dr. Fuhrman has mentioned many times that meat should be avoided. Dr. Fuhrman believes that eating too much meat can lead to an increased risk of cancer. The less meat, the better. I like his idea that no more than 5 percent of the calories should come from animal products.

One quick note, I haven't had any red meat at for for about 10 months now. I don't miss it at all as I eat so many other foods. Who knows, maybe I won't miss the turkey. It should be a good challenge. I'll update everyone next week on how it goes.

Here's how I've lost weight. Without exercise.

I tried this about a year ago. I could totally give up dairy but I really like my chicken! The meatless stuff in the groceries aren't that great for you & I didn't have the tools in my kitchen to make my own stuff. I don't eat red meat often & I'm lucky that I prefer chicken & ground turkey. Good luck with this! I wish I could offer advice but after a month, I went back to my regular diet.
