I Completed The Walk-A-Thon Challenge!
As many of you know, I was in a walking challenge sponsored by United Healthcare. I was also in the same challenge last year when they ran one in the fall of 2012.
Yesterday was the final day of this year's challenge, so how did I do? I don't want to reveal my total steps yet until they announce the winners but I did comparable to last year. Last time around I had over a million steps in ten weeks. This year, I stepped over 800,000 steps in eight weeks. If the challenge were 10 weeks like last year's challenge, I no doubt would have the million steps again.
I'm relieved the challenge is over as I should be focusing more on strength training. Cardio is not as important as I'm already at my goal weight. During this challenge, I stepped up the cardio, increasing my treadmill time to get between 15,000 to 20,000 steps a day during the latter half of the challenge. Although I did do strength training during this time, I kind of put it on the side while focusing on the steps.
Now, it's time to get back into the strength training again! One thing I'm glad about is that I didn't lose any more weight. I was worried that by increasing the cardio I would start to lose again. Luckily, I stayed basically the same weight.
I'll let you know how I do overall in the challenge when they release the results. I know my team didn't win, but I want to see how I did with the steps individually, compared with the 1,000 plus other competitors. Hopefully, I'm in the top 10!
