Please Don't Restrict Calories!

I wrote about a friend a few weeks ago who wants to get his weight down to a certain number, despite already losing over 100 pounds. Recently, he told me he wants to cut his calories in half. To me, this is dangerous, not just because of the potential for developing an eating disorder, but because cutting calories will not result in sustainable weight loss.

Too many people think that by not having enough calories, they will lose weight. Well, all that will happen is that the metabolism will slow down to a crawl. Do you want to feel tired and have no energy? That's what happens with calorie restriction.

Losing Weight Is The Easy Part!

I was overweight for most of my adult life... actually I should say morbidly obese. I never dreamed that I could lose weight and maintain the weight loss for about two and a half years so far. After losing the weight, I've come to this conclusion: losing weight is the easy part!

This is just my opinion, of course, everyone is different. I have a much easier time shedding the weight than bulking up. The muscles are developing and my abs are tightening further, but still, muscle seems to come a lot easier to others.

I'm Not Trying To Lose Weight

My aim isn't trying to lose more weight. i guess I have to keep reminding people of that. I know I've written about this before but I still hear the comment "Don't lose any more weight".

Today, someone hadn't seen me for a while and said it. Instead of realizing that I was about the same weight I was when she last saw me, instead she needed to remind me that I don't need to lose any more weight. I don't know why it annoys me when I hear it, but it does. I think it's because I've maintained right around the same weight for over two years now. As my body fat percentage changes, the only weight I lost was a couple pounds (two pounds, to be precise) from my lowest weight. And I've been maintaining this weight for weeks now, of 210 pounds.

It's Too Easy To Gain Weight Over The Holidays!

I know many people give up eating healthy over the holidays. There is so much temptation with all the Christmas cookies, egg nog, etc. Plus, all the Christmas parties. I had four of them last week!

So how do you avoid weight gain over the holidays? For me, it's the goal I have of tightening my abs. I know my diet has to be clean in order to achieve this goal. I don't want to let a few days of eating bad set me back for months.

Don't Lose Too Much Weight! What?

I heard this comment again today and it made me crazy thinking about it.

"Don't lose any more weight or you'll waste away…"
