Muscle Building Foods
Before going plant based last year, I always worried about protein. How would I get enough protein to build muscle. Oddly enough, I was not building muscle as efficiently as I am now being plant based.
One thing I've learned is that if you're eating enough food, you'll have more than enough protein. There are so many bodybuilders at the gym I go to that just do not understand this concept. Protein powders are not necessary to build muscle.
So what foods are best to eat to build muscle? What seemed to work for me as I continue to work on my goals, is a variety of different plant based protein rich foods.
One of my favorite foods... lentils. They have 11 grams of protein per serving.
Other protein rich foods I consumer daily:
Chia seeds, flax seeds, broccoli, black beans, navy beans, oatmeal, peanut butter, almond butter, kale, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, among many others. It's really hard to not get protein with this diet.
And it seems to be working. I'm so happy that the loose skin has tightened considerably since going plant based. Of course, it's a lot of work, as I workout 5 days a week. But I have the energy to do it from the healthy foods I eat!
I'm not perfect and I know good results take time. I still have a way to go with my chest and abs. But it keeps me motivated to work hard.
