My Team Did A Triathalon Today… And I Came In First!

My team participated in a triathalon at the Northwest CT YMCA. Four members of my team showed up, and one other team had two members, so that means six of us were competing for first place.

I had a strategy planned before I did the triathlon. I knew that my strength was the treadmill. I've been using it for so many years and have been increasing the speed on it. I wanted to make sure that I blasted through the treadmill way before everyone else. Why? For one thing, swminning is my weakest area.

Strength Training Update: Getting Lean!

I met with my personal trainer today. He measured the body fat and I am now in the teens. That's great as he wants it to be around 13 or so. My legs and chest are getting muscular but my abs still have excess skin. I think the abs have tightened some, but it still has a way to go.

My belly was stretched so far when I was obese, it's going to take some time to get it back to normal. I know that the majority of the fat went to my belly so it will be the hardest area to tighten. I'm proudest of my legs as I've done so much walking, they have very little fat on them and are muscular.

Not The Best Way To Get Exercise In!

I'm back from vacation, after a long trip. I got a lot of steps in, but it was a stressful way to exercise.

I was on my way to Virginia and decided to take the train there. It's a long ride but I thought I could read, so maybe it won't seem so long.

Let ME ask YOU a Question...

Why do YOU exercise???

Think about this for a second. What REALLY drives you to get up & get moving? What REALLY pushes you to lace up those shoes & press play on that iPod that you know will immediately throw you into the zone? Aside from the obvious health benefits that exercise delivers, what REALLY motivates you to push through on those days when you don't think you have anything to give which, in turn, ends up being one of your BEST routines?

I'll start...

Strength Training Update: Getting More Intense!

Wow, what a workout today! My trainer mixed up the workout again as he don't like me staying on the same workout too long. He didn't check my body fat percentage this time around but will do so again in two weeks. My weight was exactly the same as two weeks ago, so I don't need to adjust what I'm eating. He advised me to continue eating lots of protein and clean eating.

I've been doing circuit training for a while and now he wants me to focus on doing each set three times in a row with a 20 second rest in-between. This changes the intensity of the workout and doesn't give the muscles a chance to rest much after each set. The good thing is the workouts won't take as long. But I will have to go to the gym nearly every day in order to complete each routine.
