Awesome Bloodwork, One of the Many Benefits of a Plant Based Diet
Twelve years ago, I was hypertensive and pre-diabetic. I was threatened to be put on blood pressure medication. I was obese and knew I needed to change my life. I did not want to go on meds.
So, what’s the alternative? Make a lifestyle change. By adapting a plant based diet, not only did my blood pressure normalize, so did my blood sugar. I also lost 150+ pounds. I know many of you know my story already, but the reason I bring it up is because I recently had lab work for an upcoming physical.
Do you know how awesome it feels to get optimal results? It’s an incredible feeling to know that I don’t have to fear going to the doctors. I don’t have to worry about threats of being put on dangerous medications that only offer a temporary bandage to the problems. I don’t recall what my blood sugar was during my first physical, but I know it wasn’t close to what the numbers are now. The lab work showed it was 84. I know the dangers of diabetes, so I want to avoid it. I had my A1C checked about six months ago and that was optimal as well.
I love this way of eating. It gives me energy to workout, as I am extremely active. I could never imagine going back to my old eating habits.
During my journey, I also became an ethical vegan. Because of this, it helped me stay on track. The temptations for the junk food are gone, knowing that animal products might be ingredients in many of the foods I used to eat.
I can’t think of any reason to not go whole food plant based if you care about your health!
