I know I owe everyone an update with my weight loss progress, but I have been focusing on the development of this site instead of updating my blog posts. So today's contribution will focus on mental health and stress. Watch this great video and get some perspective on life.
Healthy Living in Connecticut Blog
I began my weight loss journey back in December of 2011. I was extremely obese at 345 pounds and knew I had to do something. I did not want to develop diabetes and other obesity related illnesses that ran in my family.
I had my first doctor appt. in many years at the end of January 2012. I work for the state and the new union rules stated that I need a regular physical or face a higher premium. During the appointment, I learned that I had pre-hypertension. The doctor wanted to put me on medication, as I was 312 pounds during the office visit.
Today marks the day of my final hurrah with a wonderful Easter feast. Tomorrow I will be cutting the crap out of my diet and moving forward to lose some 90+ pounds. My approach is a simple one based on a very easy to follow diet plan.
As a kid I hated to eat broccoli. My parents would not let me leave the table until I ate every last bit of it. As I grew older I did not mind it so much as long it was slobbered with butter and salt. Then I stopped eating it all together unless it was buried in some slimy chinese food.
In my 20's I barely ate anything that resembled "real food". Fast food, pizza and chinese filled my plate unless I was too lazy to go out and I would make macaroni and cheese or canned ravioli at home. Sure, you burn it off when you are young but then things started to catch up with me.
