Plant Strong... The Name Says It All!
I have made a lot of improvements this past week in my muscle building initiative. I decided to wear this new shirt I got in support of Rip Esselstyn, a former fire fighter turned author. Rip is the author of the Engine 2 Diet. He was also responsible for turning his fellow firefighters into healthy "plant strong" eaters to help save a colleague, who had very high cholesterol. His term "Plant Strong" really says it all, describes my goal perfectly.
So this week, I increased weight for both my chest and arms. I only go up small increments but to me, it's a big improvement. I'm no where near my goal yet, but eventually I would like to bench press my body weight... got a long way toward that goal!
But I think the muscles are getting more prominent now. I also discovered my weight was up another few pounds. Although the number tends to make me a little nervous, I know most of the weight isn't fat. It's a different mindset from where I was a few years ago, when I was trying to lose weight.
Plants definitely have been making me strong, along with a lot of hard work. I'm continuing the 5 day a week workout schedule... not easy but helping me get results.
Here are some pictures from today. I hope the hard work shows!

Richard Hubbard was once over 350 pounds. After a doctor's physical and finding out he was pre-hypertensive, he decided to make changes and avoid medication. Over the course of a year, Rich lost the first 120 pounds of his incredible 150 pound weight loss. He ate healthy foods based on Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book "Eat To Live". He was mostly plant based, but switched to completely plant based in September of 2016. He also became a vegan in the process as his compassion for animals increased.
