There really are no excuses. Senior citizens can bench more than I can :(

I struggle with getting myself into shape.  For quite sometime I have been "A SHAPE", primarily round. I lack the discipline to eat well and exercise. Excuses come easy, negative thinking drags me down and finances always seem to paint a picture of the easier "more affordable" options to eating being made up of .88 cent boxes of Ronzoni shells in butter versus eating whole foods.  Well take a look at these guys...

Simply put.  If these guys can do it at their ages.  Then I (we) have NO EXCUSES to get going. Here is a library I am forming of some really old people who are in much better shape than I am, and I'm half their age!

Strength Training Update: Still Sculpting My Abs!

I saw my trainer on Monday and he gave me some new exercises to do, all with dumbbell weights. He didn't check my body fat this time around, so hopefully there's a big difference when he checks in three weeks.

My weight is still dropping, which he told me would happen as I continue to train. I am now down to 207.2 pounds. This is the lowest my weight has been ever as an adult. Even in college I was a few pounds heavier, around 218 pounds. For those of you that worry that it's too low of a weight, please note that my BMI still says I'm overweight. I don't pay much attention to BMI but bring it up for those that say "don't lose too much weight". My BMI is at 25.9, which I'm more than happy with. I'm just letting my weight do what it wants to do while I train and eat healthy.

The Workouts Are Challenging!

The Workouts Are Challenging!

I had a personal training session today and my trainer changed my workout routine. It's not good to stay with the same workouts over and over, so my trainer mixes it up every month or so.

What a grueling workout it is this time. I'm up for the challenge!

Body Fat Percentage Update

Body Fat Percentage Update

I've been so busy with the challenges and personal training class that I haven't had a chance to update the status of my body fat percentage.

My trainer did take measurements with the calipers. I did the calculations and it's down from the last time he checked. A few months ago, my percentage was 16.76. When I figured it out the other day, it was down to 15.03! The hard work is really paying off! I feel a lot stronger and my workout is improving, especially with the class I'm taking.

Crazy Busy… But It's Worth It!

My challenges are about half way through. You might recall that I'm in a challenge in the Torrington YMCA, doing the Fit Commitment Challenge and a stepping challenge in Bridgeport with co-workers. I walk and exercise everyday, but it's all the extra things to keep track of that are overwhelming!

The challenge in Torrington is definitely the most time consuming as it requires weekly challenges, different tasks we must do each week to receive points. This week, I've had to swim 5 laps and walk on the treadmill for a half an hour. I did the treadmill easily, but I'm not much of a swimmer so I struggled with that one; anyway, I completed the laps!
